From start to finish, this felt like both an enjoyable vacation and a worthwhile training investment. The venue (Casa Firefly Boutique Retreat) was perfect ambience, experience and location. The program organization was thorough, flawless and seamless. The participant group drawn to this training was varied, welcoming and friendly. And Michelle’s yoga instruction was exemplary in every way—surely the best I have experienced.

Michelle Garcia is a fantastic teacher and every training I do with her I walk away with a wealth of knowledge and better tools to bring to my classes. This course was well thought out, thorough, informative, and prepared me to bring Yin and Yoga Nidra to my every day life, classes, and students.

About Michelle Garcia

Michelle Garcia’s journey into yoga began unexpectedly when she stumbled into a pop-up yoga class after hours as a barista in her hometown of Grand Forks, BC. From that first savasana, she was hooked, and yoga quickly became her dedicated practice. Since 2009, Michelle has immersed herself in the transformative power of yoga, transitioning from a passionate student to a skilled teacher in 2015. With over 6,000 teaching hours and over 1,500 hours of advanced training across various styles, including hatha, vinyasa, prenatal, yin, restorative, and yoga nidra, Michelle brings a wealth of experience to her practice and teaching.

As an Indigenous yoga teacher, Michelle’s teachings reflect a deep respect for the ancient wisdom of yoga and its modern applications. Her style is a harmonious blend of energetic asana sequences interwoven with yogic philosophy, punctuated by introspective moments of slow fascial release and deep relaxation. She is known for creating a sacred, nurturing space where students can explore their inner landscape and embark on a journey of self-discovery. Her approach encourages balance, serenity, and authentic connection, offering students not only physical benefits but also emotional and spiritual growth.

Michelle’s teaching extends beyond the studio, as she has shared her expertise and passion for yoga teacher training across the globe. She has led over 30 teacher training programs since 2021 in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Peru, and Costa Rica. As the founder of Two Rivers Yoga, Michelle has built a dynamic, inclusive yoga school that honours the rich traditions of yoga while embracing modern teaching methodologies. Her philosophy is rooted in the belief that every individual carries unique wisdom and experiences, which can be translated into authentic and impactful teaching. Through Two Rivers Yoga, Michelle has created a nurturing environment where aspiring teachers are supported in cultivating their unique strengths, building confidence, and refining their skills to lead safe, engaging, and holistic yoga classes.

Whether guiding students through their personal practice or mentoring new teachers, Michelle’s mission remains the same: to help others find peace, presence, and purpose through yoga. When she’s not teaching or training, you can find her basking in the sun, trekking through jungles, or making margaritas. And, true to her nature, she’s never met a cat she didn’t want to befriend.
