I teach private in-person classes for individuals, couples or small groups at the introductory, beginner or intermediate level. Each yoga session I guide is custom-developed based on preferences, goals and experience (even if none at all, complete novice) specified by participants on their intake form.
Yoga takes place at Off-Grid Retreat, 20 min southwest of Owen Sound (ON) in a large yurt surrounded by views and sounds of the forest, supported by a beautiful solid floor made of local maple, and outfitted with high-quality yoga props including hand-made cedar yoga blocks.
Breathing is a key element to the yoga I teach, and the yoga I practice everyday, integrated into each yoga posture and the movements between them. My yoga style tends toward:
- being a practice, more so than a workout
- being unhurried, though not plodding
- being gentle, while still offering challenge
- avoiding complex or highly finessed poses in favour of foundational poses which cultivate stability
- emphasizing quality of experiencing the poses rather than quantity of poses accomplished
