Brenda L. Feuerstein is the founder and director of Traditional Yoga Studies which is a Canadian company whose primary focus is promoting authentic yogic teachings and solid research, and to bringing out their relevance in all aspects of life in the 21st century. Brenda is also the founder of the Inner Freedom Program which she started at the request for her late husband and spiritual partner, Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D. The Inner Freedom Program brings Yoga philosophy programs, free-of-charge, to people who are incarcerated. Brenda is an author of several books on Yoga philosophy, social and environmental activism, and poetry and is actively translating many sacred texts from a unique feminine perspective. She travels internationally as a Yoga educator leading trainings, retreats, workshops, classes and lectures, and her passion is finding ways to bring the yogic teachings to life in today's world and focuses on the Divine feminine in her approach. Traditional Yoga Studies also offers several distance learning courses, a mentorship program, as well as Yoga and meditation teacher training programs, retreats, workshops, lecture series and classes worldwide.
She trained intensively in Yoga philosophy (Hindu, Buddhist and Jain), asana, pranayama, meditation, Yoga-nidra, Sanskrit for nine years with her late husband and spiritual partner, Dr. Georg Feuerstein, and other teachers worldwide in the areas of meditation, pranayama, Yoga-nidra, philosophy, Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan, and Tamil, as well as postural Yoga over the course of 35 years. Brenda has studied several types of meditation and has been a meditation practitioner for over 35 years. She currently runs online meditation and Yoga-nidra and Mindfulness Meditation trainings as well as in-person trainings. Brenda continues her studies in Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga with Dharma Publishing in the USA, Kriya-Yoga with Babaji’s Kriya Yoga in Canada, and Buddhist studies with her teacher, The 9th Neten Rinpoche.
Brenda is continuing her academic studies in Psychology, Embryology, and Death and Dying from cultural and religious/spiritual perspectives as well as continuing her research into the effectiveness of mind-body practices for the deeper understanding of PTSD, eating disorders, addictions, and grief.
