Hello, I am Narendra Nathan ( Narendra for short) from Sanatana Yoga Academy in Western Australia,
During my working career as a Civil Engineer, I was introduced to Iyengar Yoga around 1991 and had practiced Yoga since then . Since then I undertook a variety of studies related to Yoga and Yoga teaching and I am currently registered with Yoga Alliance as an E – RYT 500 (experienced teacher). I am also accredited with Yoga Australia as a Yoga Teacher.
I strongly believe when yoga knowledge is imparted to all the world can be not only healthy but be united through common human values of Love, Peace, Non-Violence, Truth and righteous Conduct. This is best done from childhood to create a society that has love for all beings, respect for nature and mutual understanding of the Unity in the diversity in creation. Yoga has to be taught as a spiritual way of life with no conflict at all with a person’s faith rather than a physical culture.
My Yoga teaching as well my Yoga and wellness related courses all reflect this approach.
I have conducted public workshops (both face to face and online) on the following topics.
· Prana Yama practices
· Meditation practices
· Food – Link with Health, Spiritual progress & Climate Change
· Yoga practices for Thyroid issues
· Exploring Law of karma
· Basics of Sanatana Dharma
· Yoga Practices for Stress relief and Stress Management
I also volunteer for various community associations to share my yoga knowledge free, as shown below;
· Chair yoga (for elders with an NGO called Chorus at Bullcreek Community Centre, Western Australia) ,
· Yoga asanas and mindfulness at free sessions conducted at Willetton Sports Hall ( on Tuesday evenings) by Indian Society of WA and at Hillview Intercultural Centre at Bentley WA (on alternate Sunday mornings)
· I have also conducted “Yogathon” sessions – continuous Yoga – for fundraising for community causes.
· Prison Yoga in Western Australia to share yoga and meditation with prisoners
In my interaction with teachers, parents etc during my community work I realise there is a great need for values-based Yoga education, sustainable living and unconditional love and service to fellow humans in the community. Therefore my Yoga teaching course is intended to include aspects of Yama, Niyama, Prathyahara, Prana Yama, Dharana (Concentration), Dhyana( Meditation) , Samadhi ( Mergence) as well as the Asanas.
My aspiration is to launch a Holistic Yoga Practitioners Course with in-depth training on all eight Limbs ( or Angas) of Yoga, including Asanas, Dhyana, Dharana, Samadhi , Yama, Niyama, Pratyahara.
