I was born more yin than yang, totally content to sit around and read my days away. (#slothlife) It was only natural to begin studying spiritual text, mindfulness and meditation. I tried every free meditation in the city, from the university, to the local buddhist, and some distinctly cult-like experiences. I signed up for all of the online trainings with my favourite gurus, and starting attending local events from yoga nidra to chanting.
In 2009 my mom got cancer – she’s in remission now, and my interest in what we cannot see grew exponentially deeper (low key existential crisis?). I got certified in pranic (energy) healing, and went on my first silent retreat. Since then I have become a registered yoga instructor, certified yogic meditation teacher, completed a three month deep dive course into intuition & leadership, and studied with Eckhart Tolle’s School of Awakening for six months.
Meditation is the tool that made everything click for me. I learned how to turn off autopilot, especially during emotional reactions, and how to be present to the small joys of life again. As a result I connect more deeply to my humans and life itself. My practice has leaked into and improved every aspect of my life from my experience of myself to my career.
My methodology is largely based in yoga philosophy – the eight limb path of consciousness. However I am also strongly influenced by Buddhist compassion techniques, and mindfulness practices. As well as my own teacher Curran Watts, and thought leaders such as Pema Chodron, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Jon Kabat Zinn, and Eckhart Tolle.
