My name is Mariam Sufi, and I am a yogi, a movement specialist, a retreat coordinator, and a mom. I am passionate about helping women connect with their core, finding stability and strength in the journey.
I have been practicing yoga since I was 16 years old. I used to take the traditional Bikram style with my father as a teenager, and I fell in love with how my mind and body felt afterward. As a dancer and a fitness professional, throughout the years, I have always turned back to yoga as a way of calming my mind, connecting with my present, working on my alignment, and being conscious of my posture and breath. I became a 200-RYT in November 2016 and soon became a director at Hot 8 Yoga. From 2016-to 2021, I was director of 3 yoga studios in the country, and I led 3 yoga training during that time: 2 in Yoga Sculpt and 1 in Hot Pilates Yoga Barre. I also finished an 85-hour RPYT training with Trinatal Yoga in 2020, weeks after giving birth to my daughter. In 2020, during the pandemic, I was also allowed to virtually train NBA basketball players in yoga as a part of their conditioning in preparation for the NBA bubble that summer.
I love working with women because I believe it is essential to support and empower women as they navigate through the major transitions in life. Unfortunately, we are conditioned to put ourselves last regarding self-care and self-knowledge. As a result of my experience teaching women during the pandemic and my journey through postpartum life, I created and developed The Goddess Retreat, a retreat designed to support, educate, and empower women on their life journey to self-discovery. This retreat connects with all elements of self-care: mental, emotional, and physical, and gives women an opportunity to learn more about their bodies, create dialogue, and build relationships with each other.
I am grateful to have this platform to share my love for movement and my passion for health and wellness.
