Amina has served three terms as Secretary for the YSC Board and is a contributing author to the book Best Practices for Yoga with Veterans and Best Practices for Yoga in the Criminal Justice System.

Amina’s professional expertise is in the field of yoga service for juvenile detention centers and adult prisons. She is the first black woman to implement curriculum-based yoga and mindfulness programs for juvenile detention centers in the state of Delaware, with the assistance of the Chief Judge of Family Court, the Honorable Chandlee Khun. Currently, Amina serves as Project Manager for “Best Practices for Yoga with Survivors of Sexual Trauma,” the 4th installment in the YSC’s Yoga Service Best Practices series. Incorporating the collaborative work of over 40 professionals, this project is piloting “The Pledge: A Commitment to Universally Inclusive Yoga,” in selected yoga studios throughout the U.S. Other products, including the book Best Practices for Yoga with Survivors of Sexual Trauma, are slated for release during 2018-19.
