Heart: My yoga journey began in the late 1990s; inspired largely by the preparation prenatal classes gave me for the birth of my second child. I wanted to help others experience the ease and freedom that comes with riding each wave of breath. Richard Bach said, “We teach best what we most need to learn.” For me it’s spaciousness of being. I spent my early years falling for figure skating—literally. Today, I have some lingering hip limitations, but I practice and teach with the understanding that yoga is not about the pose—it’s about letting go and feeling the body, mind and breath in the same place at the same time. 

Style: I teach a breath-led practice based on viniyoga, which means I believe in the importance of adapting poses to students rather than the other way around.  

Places of Study: My study includes teacher trainings with Aadil Palkhivala, certification in prenatal and postnatal yoga from Colette Crawford (for whom I taught), certification from Shari Friedrichsen, workshops with Judith Lasater, and Anusara practice with John Friend, Doug Keller and Denise Benitez. I began a viniyoga-based practice in 2003 when I met Laura Yon. Since then I’ve studied with A.G. and Indira Mohan, and taught and earned my 500-hour certification at Planet Earth Yoga Center. In addition to Planet Earth Yoga, I've taught at the Dayaalu Center on Bainbridge Island and offered classes for employees at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and for a Yoga Study Breast Cancer Clinical Trial. I am currently in an 18-month, 500-hour teacher training with Laura Yon and Christy Fisher at Phinney Ridge Yoga.
