I teach yoga to nurture Self- Care. I practice with the same intention.
Since I discovered the asana practice 30 years ago and through the last 15 years that I've been studying and teaching yoga, I've personally learned, and witnessed in other's, how practicing yoga can evolve with the practitioner's changing bodies and needs as we move through our lives and all of it's challenges.
Practicing yoga encourages me to leave behind the mind stuff and reconnect with mySelf. Release, restore and rejuvenate, After practice my brain is always clearer, my body is powerful but relaxed, and the connection to my best Self is awakened. I'm open to looking for the best in what my life presents to me.
When I started practicing asana I was into performing the cool poses. Many were attainable and others I struggled with, even to the point of injury. I intuitively knew that yoga wasn’t supposed to be competitive or hurtful. I became curious about how to practice more safely, (maybe more wisely), without giving up the challenges of doing asanas. I enrolled in a yoga teacher training and quickly learned there were deeper elements to yoga that I’d yet to discover. I continue to be awed by everything yoga covers regarding the human condition; our connection to ourselves, each other and nature. I read about the eight limbs of yoga. The first branch is Ahimsa, the practice of non-harm or non-violence, to ourselves, to others and our environment. My practice began to change. Yoga isn't about doing a pose. It's about exploring how our minds harmonize with our bodies; whether thru an asana practice or during any of life's challenges, so we can guide ourselves to a positive outcome.
I enjoy sharing what I discover about this infinite practice. Self-study and multiple teacher trainings have increased my interest and defined my purpose for teaching. I teach Hatha, Gentle, Prenatal & Postnatal, Restorative, Vinyasa and Yin. I enjoy teaching yoga to people of all ages, body types and abilities. I hope to guide them to feeling their mind, body and spirit positively working as one. I hope to inspire them and provide them with the skills that will help them maintain their well-being, and be at their best.
I’m extremely grateful to many of the teachers I’ve studied with. I received my 500-hour teacher certifications from YogaWorks, I’m very fortunate to have been mentored by Chad Hamrin and Jasmine Lieb. Jillian Pransky led me through her Restorative Yoga Level 2 Teacher Training. I was certified to teach Yoga Tune Up® by its founder, Jill Miller. Most recently I became certified to teach Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga through study with Chrissy Canning of Yoga Family Health. I am registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT500.
