Julia is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified instructor, trained as an EMT, and specializes in teaching yoga as stress reduction for people in high-intensity occupations. Julia's practice is rooted in techniques that are scientifically proven to have profound health and mental health benefits. Yet she balances this nerdiness by honoring a lineage of ancient philosophers who invented yoga and later inspired Western therapy. Her practice is beneficial for the whole body, emphasizing functional movements that empower people's ability to do their day-to-day tasks. By practicing integrated holistic yoga, students grow strong, stable, and flexible, both mentally and physically.
Julia's class is accessible to all body types. She encourages students to move at their own pace, with their Prana (breath) which means you get to ‘choose your adventure’. You make the class as fast and athletic, slow and strong, or relaxed and chill as you need for that day. Julia always leaves time for Shavasana (final resting pose) so you can test your limits and know that you've earned the blissful rest that awaits you. The class is welcome to all including BIPOC, LGBTQ, wheelchair users, people of differing physical abilities, and the elderly. Come with an open mind, and expect a class that is as rewarding as it is challenging.
Note: Please come early, ideally on an empty stomach, well hydrated, and ready to ‘work the edge’ of discomfort. Let your instructor know if you have any injuries or sensitivities they need to be aware of so they can meet you on the mat as you are. If you need to leave early please choose a spot near the door to minimize disturbing others as you make your departure.
