I am a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with Nicole Grant, a Registered Yoga School. I have been a student of Nicole Grant for 23 years, as well as other teachers at Yoga Mandala in Winchester. Some of the teachers include Pam Gaither, Connie Mooney and Lena El-Chehabi.
I had been a dancer all of my growing up years. When I left dance my body suffered. A few years later I took my first yoga class in London in 1984 through the Hammersmith Adult Education offerings. It was taught by an Indian man in a large classroom of around 60 people. By the end of the 4 months there were 10 of us left. I loved it. The grace, strength, and athleticism of yoga enchanted me. I have also suffered from back pain all of my life and yoga kept my back strong and pain free. Since that first yoga class I have sought out yoga wherever I lived while my husband was in the Navy, Virginia Beach and Boston. When we moved to Lexington, MA, I found Nicole Grant and have been her student ever since.
I took Nicole's teacher training course and deepened my understanding and knowledge of yoga asanas, pranayama, pratiahara, and yoga philosophy, I graduated in October 2019, and in March 2010 the world shut down with Covid. Early morning online classes with Nicole kept me sane.
I have since taught many private classes, including at a sober house for men, and am interested in teaching prison yoga, my way of giving back.
