Paula Anderson is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200-ERYT500) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with an approved YA Registered Yoga School (RYS). Personal care and fitness instruction have always been a part of her life and in 2008 she found her connection to Yoga. She quickly became a regular practitioner drawn by the peace and centering it brought to her life. “I’m telling you, it’s magic on the mat!”
“No matter the style, yoga connects you to that place of personal power, allowing you to disengage from life distractions and to focus internally on breath, posture and mindfully being open to accept the moment.”
Paula’s love, kindness and soulful style welcomes practitioners of all levels. “I enjoy creating an experience, asking students for input and designing on a dime. Creating what their bodies and minds are seeking on that particular day. After all, It doesn’t matter if it’s your first downward dog or your one thousandth, TODAY it’s brand new…and that’s what Yoga is about, being here in the present.”
After journeying to Bali, Indonesia in 2014, Paula was able to fulfill a long dream, opening Shrine Hair & Body, in Rhode Island, a place dedicated to service and beauty...inside and out. Housed in a 4,000 square foot historic barn, the first floor was a full service, hair only salon, and upstairs you would find, Shrine Studio, with soaring ceilings and skylights, which offered Yoga Classes 7 days per week.
In addition to the Studio offerings, Paula personally offered seva (free) classes, o every summer on Sunday mornings at the town's shore, known as "Yoga by the Sea". The pleasure was the great sense of community established there, and even in foul weather, the classes were then shifted to an in-studio experience rather than cancelling. "I understood, how important it was to keep the integrity of the program going, it may have given people the opportunity, by chance, to have an in-studio experience for the first time." she stated. It was a pleasant surprise, when Rhode Island Monthly magazine selected, "YOGA BY THE SEA" as the best free attraction in the East Bay in 2018.
Another,'organically grown" Yoga program came to fruition, courtesy of Paula's dog, Casper. When Casper went on a minor, unplanned adventure, quickly ending up at the town Animal Shelter, "Down dog for Pound Dogs®" was born! Also, known as DD4PD, #DD4PD, these classes provided the opportunity for awareness and fundraising opportunities for local shelters and non-profit groups helping animals.
But, as everyone knows, life evolves, and after finally settling in at her new home state of Florida, Paula will be offering some local and online "Down Dog for Pound Dogs"® classes to help our furry friends!
No bone's about it, looks like 2025 will have some pawsitivity for sure! Keep watch on Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok for updates!
