Joe was educated as a composer at Cal Arts and Old Dominion University.

He works with his brother as a General Building Contractor in San Francisco.

Joe began studying yoga in 2000. His main teachers have been Deirdre Carrigan, Devorah Blum and Anthony Garcia. He also studied Sanskrit for several years with Indira Bulkin at the San Francisco Yoga Society.

He focuses on alignment in the general Iyengar tradition as well as yoga for workers in the building trades, senior citizens and people with limited mobility
