I have been practicing, teaching and studying yoga since the early 70's. Working with breath as energy was and still is my main emphasis in all styles of asana (physical practice) that I teach. I am grateful to my teacher and mentor, Beryl Bender Birch, for her guidance and knowledge of Astanga Yoga. Other teachers for whom I am grateful include David Swenson, Paul Grilley, Dr. Ganesh Mohan, Dr. Indu Arora, Ray Long (for adjustments and anatomy) and my continued work with Doug Keller for his wonderful attention to Yoga Therapy and most importantly, my students. In addition to an 865-hour certification from Beryl's The Hard and The Soft Yoga Institute, I am E-Yoga Alliance Registered at the 500 hour level. In addition, I am able to facilitate Yoga Study at the 230 hour and 300 hour.
In 2002, Yoga Loft was created through a vision of my husband. At the time, I was teaching full time as well as coaching Nordic Ski at Willmar High School. Teaching Yoga was through Community ED and privates. When the studio opened, I resigned teaching at the school after 27 years and became a full time teacher and student at Yoga Loft. From the very beginning of my journey, I realized that Yoga is a study of Self and self. To me, the discipline of Yoga offers us all the tools to stay present and to live from the heart which in turn allows us to live with ease in this world and to serve others in peace. Living in a rural area allows me to work with a wide variety of people. We are basic in our approach to teaching asana (Postures) in that I teach people and not a particular style. I am grateful to all those that come to the practice and take the practice out into the world
