I plan to Practicing and teach Authentic Yoga (Yoga of undisputed origin; genuine goes to the practice and the origin of Yoga, a centuries-old science and series of recommendations for personal health and growth).
By incorporating all forms of Yoga into Authentic Yoga, I find the most truth. We will learn and practice Raja, Karma, Bhakti, and Jnana Yoga by exploring Vinyasa, restorative, yin, pregnancy, children’s, water, aerial, subtle body, meditation, and basic Ayurveda concepts.
Authentic yoga consists of commitment to
1. 100% self honesty
2. 100% forgiveness of others
3. 100% true to self individuation
4. 100% devoted to scientific truth
5. 100% acceptance of reality
6. 100% rejection of attraction/aversion
7. 100% commitment to balance in life
8. 100% work with no expectation of outcome or reward
These goals are starting places and are more than likely never fully achieved in life. Never-the-less, we will work toward them diligently.
Marie Louise in a nutshell:
Dosha balance
Pitta 3 Kapha 2 vata 1
Pitta: oily, sharp, hot, light, fleshy, spreading, liquid, salty, sour, pungent
I am intense, organized, generous and smart.
Kapha: cold, moist, heavy, dull, static, smooth, dense, oily, soft, sweet, sour, salty
I am sweet, soft, loyal, devoted, and determined.
Vata: light, dry, rough, clear, active, cold, mobile, pungent, bitter, astringent
I am clear, mobile (still at 74), light, and enlightened.
If I lose any of these good qualities, I work to get myself back in balance.
Vata imbalance: add kapha
Pitta imbalance: add kapha
Kapha imbalance: add pitta
I believe in the ARC OF IMPERFECTION
Rajas. Sattva. Tejas.
Fast. Balanced. Slow.
In a physical body, the most we can hope for is balance. The more we can attain balance in Sattva (purity, wholeness, empathy) the more peaceful is our life per Yoga and Ayurveda philosophy.
I encourage students to NOT compartmentalize truth as we are often encouraged to do. There is only one Truth. You find it inside yourself. You never find truth looking outside of yourself. Pratyahara (sensory Scanning) and Svadyaya (Self Enquiry) are the Empowering Limbs of Yoga.
People on the path of authentic yoga apply yoga to everything experience outside and inside of them. Fear and defensiveness is a sign of a stuck place inside YOU.
Rather than avoid accountability by projecting your discomfort on someone, take responsibility for yourself. Even young children can begin to practice authentic yoga as soon as they begin to develop the concept of self as separate from primary caretaker. Until then, primary caretaker can model authentic life. Our personality is set in EGO by three years old, but we do not have to be the victim of EGO forever. Become aware of and face your fears and defensiveness. Accept them as YOURS. Let them go because they are illusions from the past. This is a path toward freedom.
