500 Hr. RYT, Trauma-Informed Certified, and (almost!) PRYT Prenatal Certified
Gemma has been a dedicated yoga practitioner since 2012. The emotional balance, tranquility, and bliss she experienced after each yoga class caused Gemma to strike out and receive her 200-hour yoga teacher training (YTT) certification in 2020, and her 300-hour YTT in 2023. Adept in yin, vinyasa, hatha and gentle yoga, Gemma hopes to bring deep healing, an understanding of yoga’s roots, and a sense of better connection with the self and the community to those who come to her classes.
Gemma understands that Yoga is widely colonized in the West and seeks to aid in the reconstruction of Yoga's roots. She practices yoga activism by embracing all 8 Limbs of Yoga, with an emphasis on the Yama (yoga ethic) of ahimsa (non-violence). Her application ahimsa in the classroom is driven by cross-cultural competence and creating accessible practices for all ages, body types, and ability levels. She is still refining these aspects of her classes and is always open to feedback on how to better people's experiences.
