As a certified yoga instructor and IAYT certified Yoga Therapist my passion is helping others discover the transformative power of a personal yoga practice and the benefits of self-care based on the beautifully natural science of ayurveda. Using the sister sciences of yoga and ayurveda I work with students to uncover the abilities they have within themselves to overcome any challenges they are facing including:
- reducing stress
- finding a healthy work/life balance
- reducing pain or discomfort in their bodies
- recovery from illness or injury
- finding ease of movement in the body
- dealing gracefully with personal or family crisis
I listen to and gently guide students toward finding their way to calm and clarity where they can define their goals or the life they crave and then provide targeted practices and life skills that empower them to make sustainable changes that will move them toward their chosen direction.
I worked for 30 years at an entertainment conglomerate, heading up a global operations team while raising a family. Consequently I have first-hand experience with associated pressures and challenges of that type of stressful lifestyle and the subsequent detrimental physical, mental and emotional effects it can bring on such as:
- low back injury and pain,
- reduced mobility and flexibility from being desk bound
- anxiety
- over whelm
- fatigue
- depression
As I got older I also began to exhibit the consequences of neglected self-care: weight gain, elevated cholesterol and blood sugar levels. I felt I was aging in body and mind well before my time. Through yoga and ayurveda I have learned to find the calm in the storm, how to listen to my body and make self-care a priority. I was able to regain strength, flexibility, creativity and confidence.
