Born with Sickle Cell Anemia, Shatera has had to be mindful of her body and breath in ways others often overlook. Most people can’t feel their blood cells coursing through their veins. Shatera can, and many times they’re struggling to make the trip. A regular Asana practice has allowed Shatera’s body, breath, and mind to flow more freely.
Grateful for this resource, she’s become devoted to using her 200hr Yoga Alliance and Wellness Champion certifications to get others (particularly her peers of color) to meet her on the mat - inviting their minds and bodies to reunite.
Shatera cured a sever case of "Cabin Fever" by traveling to Palomino, Colombia for her 300hr YTT in 2021. She now has the honor of using her RYT500 certification to help train and mentor aspiring yoga teachers along their YTT journeys.
During the weekday, Shatera is the Education Success Manager at Breathe for Change, and remains dedicated to decolonizing education.
