Sarah Hentges is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT-200) and YACEP with Yoga Alliance and holds an additional 200-hour certification in trauma-informed yoga. She is a professor at University of Maine at Augusta where she teaches transdisciplinary classes like Integrative Yoga: Theory and Practice for Self-Care and Holistic Healing, Feminist Praxis for Self and Community Care, and Embodied Social Justice: Theory and Practice. In October 2022, Sarah opened The Spiral Goddess Collective, a Center for Mind/Body Movement in downtown Bangor, Maine.
She has taught yoga for almost 20 years at a variety of community centers, gyms, and college campuses. She offers a variety of weekly classes and workshops, taking yoga outside of the box and offering dance and embodied movement. During the summer she teaches Hiking Yoga on the Bangor Waterfront and offered this program in Odense, Denmark in 2019. Sarah has also taught a variety of other fitness classes for over 25 years, particularly dance aerobics, mind/body fitness dance, and freestyle hybrid courses.
Sarah is a published author of several books including Women and Fitness in American Culture and her new book, Demystifying American Yoga: Embodied Movement for Individual and Collective Transformation. She has Facebook groups: "Yoga for Every Mind/Body with Sarah Hentges" and "JourneyDance with Sarah Hentges."
