I am an eternal student who delights in sharing her deep love of and personal understanding of yoga as a wellness modality. Yoga was a form of exercise in my life until it took on an even greater importance as part of my path back to wellness when I was struggling with an auto-immune issue. I can attest to yoga's powers as both a form of exercise and as something much greater and holistic and love nothing more to share its magic. My education as a yoga instructor began at the iconic Integral Yoga in New York City in 2016, where I earned my first 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training certification. I then earned another 200-hour certification at Five Pillars Yoga, where my education has continued ever since under the great tutelage of Erika Mehiel. Erika has also served as my mentor when I began as a fledgling teacher several years ago. My additional trainings at Five Pillars include 25-hour Sequencing with inspirational yogis, Stephanie Eris and Lauren Harris, and 50-hour trainings in both Yoga Thera Essentials and Yin & Restorative Yoga with Erika, and most recently a 25-hour training with Erika & Alana Laine Greenberg, also a true inspiration, in The Wisdom of Ayurveda. My teaching has been mostly focused on beginners, but I also teach more experienced yogis looking to fine-tune their practices, both in the classroom and privately. I have also taught Trauma-informed Yoga for at-risk youth. As a life-long student, I am ever-evolving in my own practice and teaching. I currently teach Yin & Restore at Five Pillars, and will resume teaching Yoga Basics in January. You can sign up for my classes on the Five Pillars Yoga website. Or if you'd prefer a more personalized private session, or have any questions about my experience and my approach to teaching, I can be reached at pennygormanyoga@gmail.com. All classes will be held via Zoom during Covid. Please stay well! Namaste.
