Mallary Jones started practicing yoga regularly in 2007 after graduating from Virginia Tech. Mallary immediately felt the mental relief and physical benefits of a routine yoga practice. Yoga helped calm anxiety, reduce stress, and improved quality of sleep. Whether it was Rodney Yee’s Gaiam DVDs or ‘Inhale Yoga’ with Steve Ross on the Oxygen channel, yoga quickly became a necessary piece of Mallary’s morning routine before work. Eventually she left the comfort of her living room home practice and tried a variety of yoga styles, studios, and teachers in New York City. While working in banking on a trading floor and living in NYC can be stressful and anxiety inducing, Mallary was able to keep her calm and stay grounded through yoga.

In 2015, Mallary wanted to deepen her yoga practice and knowledge. She completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Vida in NYC. Initially not thinking she wanted to teach, after graduating Mallary felt inspired and compelled to share the benefits of yoga with others. She started teaching vinyasa at ‘Unity Yoga’ (now ‘Bread and Yoga Co-op’) in Harlem.

Mallary moved to Charlotte with Bank of America in January 2017. She visited Y2 Yoga for the Ashtanga program but thought the downstairs hot room was not for her. After a couple years of trying out several studios and amazing teachers in the Charlotte area, Mallary decided to give the hot room at Y2 a try. She fell in love with the flow, loud music, and commanding voices of the teachers. The love for the heat and humidity...took time.

Mallary completed her 300 hour teacher training at Y2 Yoga with Johnna Smith and Tanner Bazemore in September 2020 and decided to trade in the fast paced banking job, for teaching a fast paced Y2 flow full time. Mallary wants to share how alive and powerful you can feel while practicing yoga. She loves teaching studio classes as well as working with private clients one-on-one to reach their individual goals. Mallary also enjoys teaching breath work and meditation to individuals, group privates, and corporate clients. Creating awareness around the breath, intentional movement with the body, while finding grace and ease in the transitions is a totally magical space that can change perspective, habitual patterns, and your life.
