Katherine was raised in a military family in the suburbs just outside of Washington, D.C. Later, she completed her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech in 2004. Since then, she has worked in the health and wellness industry from various angles.
Upon moving to Richmond in 2007, Katherine held the position as Personal Training Director and Group Exercise instructor at a large chain co-ed fitness center in the area. At this time she was in the best shape of her life - training up to 12 clients and taught more than 10 cycle and fitness classes per week. In December of 2009, Katherine suffered a stroke causing her to become unable to have normal sensation and control over the right side of her body but was quick to recover. A month later, she worked towards earning professional status in both the INBF and WNBF body building federations, later becoming a Natural Bodyz sponsored athlete. During this time she also studied Dietetic Behavioral Counseling at the Medifast Weight Control Center.
In 2013, Katherine broke her tailbone in a skydiving accident and was reintroduced to exercise through yoga in 2014. Katherine studied yoga and meditation under John and Chris Yax, owners of the Yax Yoga Concepts style of yoga. The Yax Yoga Concepts is based on the philosophy which adheres to being open to evolving with the needs of the individual and the community. After a series of unfortunate life events in 2017, Katherine moved to be closer to family in Fort Collins, CO. Here she began her studies towards massage therapy at the HealingArtsInstitute.
Currently, Kat is an Injury Rehab Specialist LMT, fascia, and movement expert that forges links between the worlds of fitness, athletics, yoga, grounded wisdom teachings, massage, and pain management. Her Brain Meets Body (an intuitive approach to the understanding of personal transformation) programs are found at gyms, yoga studios, and athletic training facilities throughout Fort Collins. She is the former anatomy teacher for Yoga Pod Fort Collins. Kat hopes to guide her students to connect to their true self in a more physical, emotional, and spiritual way through a safe bodywork practice.
