I started practicing yoga in the year 2000 because as a high school teacher, I was really stressed out and needed to relax. But I learned so much more about myself and my body in the process. In 2006 I decided to train to become a yoga instructor. I chose Kripalu yoga, because I loved the way it flowed and the focus of feeling the sensations in the body, and the meditative qualities. I love to see how my students are so relaxed, and recharged after one of my classes. I like to bring humor into the classroom and keep things light-not so serious. I have also been trained in Energy Medicine, Brain Gym and Sound Healing, so I bring those modalities into my teaching at times!
I have experience with teaching students of all ages. I taught yoga at a well known yoga studio in Northern Virginia. (Now I live in Florida.) I have taught elementary, middle and high school students in school, studio and community center settings. In addition, I have also instructed public school teachers at the end of their busy days as well as seniors at Senior Centers and Retired Living Communities. Before the pandemic I was teaching gentle yoga at libraries and kids yoga at a family shelter, as well as Aquayoga at a neighborhood pool. I am now teaching gentle yoga on Zoom, at a local gym, a studio and a Buddhist temple.
