Hi Friends!
My name is Melody, and I’m so glad you’re here to share your practice and presence with me! I’ve been practicing yoga for over 16 years, and each stage of this journey has brought new layers of meaning and connection into my life. Alongside teaching, I am also a certified intuitive and energy healer and offer Energy Insight Sessions to clients across the globe. This has allowed me to deepen and articulate the intuitive ways I’ve always connected with and guided my students on their paths and I love having this extra layer of connection to you all.
I first discovered yoga back in high school through my dance studio and then fell in love with the mind-body connection and meditative aspects of yoga while studying Theatre in college. After college, I moved around and eventually found my yoga home, which inspired me to dive deeper. I completed my 200-hour certification in 2015 and have continued my education with certifications in Barre, Children’s Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Prenatal Yoga, and Yoga Nidra among others. As well as completing my 300-Hour Certification in 2021 – officially making me a 500HR ERYT YACP.
I serve as a Teaching Staff Trainer and Mentor, Business Development Manager, and Event Coordinator for The Studio BE here in Houston as well as teach Flow, Sculpt, and Prenatal. I’m also the founder of Twisted Tykes Family Yoga, bringing yoga and mindfulness to communities big and small. One of the most glamorous parts of my job is co-founding and leading The Get Away Yogis, a yoga retreat company with a mission to help you take your practice wherever you roam. Over the past five years, I’ve led retreats in beautiful locations like Greece, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Texas, and I can’t wait to explore more places with you.
You can also connect with me virtually through the Well Read Yogi Virtual Book Club, where we dive into inspiring reads together, and on my YouTube channel – Melody Butler Yoga: Yoga to Go!
When I’m not teaching or leading retreats, you’ll probably find me chasing my 4-year-old, snuggling with my kitten, reading, gardening, or indulging in some guilty-pleasure reality TV. I have a soft spot for margaritas, theater, the beach, and spending time either in airplanes or by the ocean – ideally with a great book.
In my yoga classes, I offer mindful Vinyasa and Hatha practices that center on meditation and movement, creating space for community and connection. I genuinely love what I do and hope to see you in one of my classes soon!
