Emily Sommerville is an E-RYT 200 yoga teacher, Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider and founder of Soul Shine Yoga in Fairhope, Alabama. After more than a decade of a “consistently inconsistent” yoga practice, Emily completed her 200 hour teacher training with YogaBirds in 2012. Although she enrolled in teacher training for the purpose of deepening her own practice, she found that she truly loves sharing her practice with others. She especially enjoys fostering a love of yoga in beginners and a exploring a deeper understanding of the 8 limbs of yoga as a lead trainer in Soul Shine Yoga School’s 200 hour training program. Always a student, Emily has continued her studies with Baron Baptiste, Kiersten Mooney, Colleen & Rodney Yee and Jason Crandell. She's currently enrolled in the Urban Zen Integrative program, a unique program that integrates mindfulness, restorative yoga postures, Reiki, aromatherapy and contemplative care.
Emily’s teaching reflects her practice; she strives to find the rhythm of sthira and sukha: strength and ease, steadiness and grace. She challenges herself and her students to listen to their ever changing needs, move beyond their defaults, and allow their practice to bring balance, embracing an expansion and a softening with each breath.
Emily is also an Certified Health Coach and CPA. In addition to her work as a studio owner and yoga teacher, she has a passion for helping other entrepreneurial spirits succeed. With her extensive background in business consulting, she is passionate about helping creative and service minded individuals build sustainable and profitable businesses to effect change in the world.
