I attended my first yoga class in 2009, participated in a weekend workshop with Max Strom on "Breath" in 2014, and received my 200RYT certificate in 2015.
As a teacher and student of yoga, I enjoy seeking out new yoga studios in all my travel destinations - especially Ft Myers, FL, as we own a second home there. Each hour on my mat, whether it be in my living room or in a yoga studio, offers me a new awareness in the connection between my body, mind, and spirit. I believe that yoga is a unique tool to help our human bodies and human hearts live our lives with wisdom, compassion, and gratitude.
As a teacher of yoga (certified in Chair Yoga in April 2018) , I incorporate breath control (pranayama) with movement through postures (asanas) to promote strength, balance, and flexibility. I include meditation and relaxation to find that state of deep inner peace when we allow our mind to be calm and silent.
I hope to educate, motivate, and inspire my family, friends, and anyone else looking to improve their quality of life and find joy and meaning in a world where everything dear to us will eventually slip from our grasp.
I know my place on this earth is only temporary, but in the midst of the uncertainties around me, I can breathe, stretch, and laugh. I can reach my arms to the blue skies, make footprints on a sandy beach, and bow my head in gratitude and contentment.
How often do I practice yoga? Every day that I want to feel better or need a change in perspective.
