We’re Almost There, Michigan – Yoga Bill Passes House Committee!

Last Updated: December 9, 2016

We are pleased to share more good news about Michigan Senate Bill 818! The bill was passed by the House Regulatory Reform Committee 14-0 yesterday! This important legislation, supported by Yoga Alliance®, will enable yoga teacher training programs (YTTs) in Michigan to operate without unnecessary regulation. We commend our legislators for their support of our yoga community, especially bill sponsor Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker. This common sense legislation helps and protects small businesses--even an editor of the Detroit News agrees.

What's Next?

We were very pleased that the Michigan Senate passed SB 818 unanimously two weeks ago and that the House Regulatory Reform Committee unanimously advanced the bill further yesterday. We are now expecting a vote by the Michigan House of Representatives in the coming weeks. Once that happens, the bill will be passed on to the Governor to be signed into law!

Please let them know that the Senate has passed this legislation and the House should pass it too!
