We Passed the Senate Education Committee!
Senate Bill 186, a bipartisan bill to exempt yoga teacher trainings (YTTs) from burdensome regulation by the Division of Private Occupational Schools (DPOS), is moving quickly through the General Assembly. The bill, introduced by Sen. Laura Woods, Rep. Alec Garnett, and Rep. Tim Dore, passed through the Senate Education Committee today by a unanimous vote!
As you know, Yoga Alliance® is a strong advocate of this critical legislation, and commends the members of the Senate Education Committee for supporting our efforts to protect the Colorado yoga community.
The bill will now be considered by the Senate Appropriation Committee. We will keep you updated on this timeline and next steps as soon as this information becomes available.
Keep It Going!
Yoga Alliance is very proud of this key victory, and is committed to completely protecting YTTs from government overreach. Please help us to continue this important work with a financial contribution. A donation of any amount will help us keep the momentum going and achieve victory in Colorado! Thank you for your support. Without your letters, calls, emails, social media posts and other contributions, this step towards protecting the integrity and diversity of yoga wouldn't have been possible.
