An Insider View of Yoga Topics through the Eyes of YA Members
In April, Yoga Alliance® commissioned a voluntary study of current and former members. Participants provided insights about our existing and planned program development. The results are in!
Teachers and Schools opined about: credentialing, registration, emails, benefits, advocacy, Directory and profile use, Online Workshops, Member Perks and demographic information. Survey results indicated that both teachers and schools have a favorable view of YA.
Of particular interest, over 90 percent of current RYT respondents reported that they currently teach yoga! We also discovered that about 75 percent of RYS respondents have been in the business for 10 years or less, and 80 percent of RYSs offer classes in their studios. These numbers, along with those from YA’s New Yoga Demographic Survey, show a promising trend for the growth of yoga practice in the U.S.
Other notable survey results show that:
YA values transparency and open communication as we look to understand more about the needs and wants of our members.
Two-thirds of our current teachers noted that they would like more information about our member benefits and access to more free education. Be sure to bookmark our Member Benefits, read through our article archive, view our video library and see what exciting Online Workshops are coming up.
RYS respondents noted a thirst for understanding about our Standards and Credentials. We urge you to read about Social Credentialing and keep an eye out for announcements about our game-changing Continuing Education program.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey and provided us with valuable feedback. We appreciate feedback and encourage you to submit suggestions, questions or comments to info@yogaalliance.org.
