I am an artist, certified yoga instructor, a certified energy practitioner, and certified trauma release practitioner. I currently facilitate yoga, trauma release, breathwork, and creativity workshops. I hold a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Integral Studies. My research was about the Presence in the painting process. I have created ArtKeyTypes, a psycho-somatic creative process, and Bīja Sanctuary in southern Italy.
I started out as a self-taught yogini when I began practicing in 1998 from the book The Sivananda Companion to Yoga, 1983. Over the past two decades I have taught a variety of yoga classes in various settings and to various age groups, such as the Mosque in Canton, Gilda’s Club in Royal Oak, Peachy Fitness, Evolve Yoga, West End Yoga, Crystal Creek Assisted Living, Michigan Yoga Center, and various festivals around the nation as well as in Italy and Costa Rica. I have a Ph.D. in transformative studies in which I inquired into the mystical notion of ‘presence’ from the Advaita tradition. I am currently pursuing a level 500 RYT.
Yoga teaching philosophy: I believe in moments of silence while giving instruction. It is important for me to include pranayama and brief meditation during every class. I give modifications when needed but try to do minimal adjustments. I always remind students to be mindful and to go back to the breath and the body. My approach is highly somatic. I like to vary my routine often so that no two classes that I teach are exactly the same yet equally beneficial.
